The Basque Country

To visit Bayonne you can make your shopping stress-free by using one of the many car parks with free bus transfer to the town center.

Stops are every 200 m and buses run every 6 min from 7.30 am to 7.30 pm every day except Sundays and public holidays.

You can also cycle to the shops on one of the free bicycles available from any of the towns covered car parks.

Bayonne is the capital of the region's top sport :

Basque Pelota which is played on a trinquet (enclosed court) or a fronton (open court).

Rugby is the most popular sport in the South West of France and Bayonne is very proud of it's rugby team, the Aviron Bayonnais.

Finally why not hit a few balls against the spectacular backdrop of lush Basque hills on the 18-hole par-72 golf course of Makila Golf Club in Bayonne Bassussarry.

Famous throughout the world for its summer festival (les fêtes de Bayonne), Bayonne is buzzing all year round with other major events.

Whether cultural, traditional, sporting or gastronomic, there is always something to celebrate!
